im looking at 2001 3.6 tip with 80k

good spec and colour combo

good history with 12 months mot, major service and tax included

what would be a fair price range?

It must ba a very late 2001. It was MY2002 when the 3.6 was introduced. Unfortunately it is difficult to give a price range. It all depends on condition and history. There are some cheap cars out there, but they will end up producing big bills to get them in to shape. The trouble is that the cars are too cheap. People buy a £10,000 car, thinking it will cost the same to run as a £10,000 VW Golf. 996s can go on for ages with rusty brakes, leaky aircon condensers, etc, without really affecting the way the car drives. They get neglected by such people, who when faced with a big bill put them up for sale. On the other hand there is the enthusiast owner who cherishes the car and keeps it in tip-top condition. I would happily pay £3-4,000 more for the latter than the former.

Hi its first registered in Sept 2001 so must of been one of the first facelift models its been looked after by Porsche and Northway all its life and Will have a new full service before sale its 13995 im going to test drive this morning and will report back

I noticed this car last week on Northway's website - looks in good condition with nice spec'd alloys. I inquired about a 3.4 Ray had for sale for £11K last Thursday - following day it was on deposit!

Do the c4s hold there value ? Are the c4s and turbos 996 more desirable ? Are they difficult to sell privately ?

Because people want the security of S.O.G when they are buying one of these. The best way to maximise when selling is to get an indie to S.O.R your car.

I probably paid a little over the odds for my 2002 996 Carerra 4 Cabrio, with 61K on the clock full PDSH, 6 months warranty and really nice lads to buy from @ £16K When the dreaded airbag light came up, they tried their best and after my driving all the way to Cirencester twice and it came on a 3rd time, they said enough was enough and they would collect and fix, it turns out it wasn't officially covered by their warranty, however they insisted on fixing at their cost and sent someone up to collect it, lovely people to deal with at Clearwater Vehicles - Cirencester. I am a bit of a perfectionist and like everything with my car to be virtually perfect, so this car was a very honest car, it hadn't been tarted up and scratches covered up, I'm so glad that I bought this one.

So I missed out on the Northway C2 I've looked at my work colleagues C2 but needed exhaust, coil packs and had oil leak plus other stuff and he wanted 16k Just looked at a 2003 C4S with 106k, looked pretty good but had it on the ramp and all four disks and pads were dangerously low, tiptronic leaking, rear valance and under tray damaged, slight oil leak, needed a full service as not done in 22k miles plus the body work at closer inspection had lots of small scratches and dinks £14,250 but needs 3-5k spent on it Does anyone know of anyone with an honest 996 they want to sell I can use as a daily driver??

i did look at that car yesterday on the forum...whos car was that as I will contact them and ask some questions it looks good but might be a little over budget thanks for pointing it out
