996 rear child seat?

Hi, I'm new to this forum as I just bought my 996 today. Does anyone know of a child seat that fits in the rear? One the right size for a 2 year old monster. My 996 is an '04 turbo cab - I mention this as I'm pretty sure the rear looks smaller, partly 'cause of the roof and partly 'cause of the 4WD. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I used a Maxi Cosi Tobi behind the rear passenger seat which was fine except the passenger seat had to be positioned quite far forward. This wasn't a problem for us as my wife is only 5 feet 2. When the 2nd child arrived, my then 2 year old had to seat behind me and I found only the Porsche Junior seat gave her enough space for her legs (i'm 5 feet 8). As you know they cost about £500 then and are quite a poor design but I got mine for half that as they were about to be replaced by the new ones which are a much better design but are not recommended for the 996. If you can't get the Porsche Junior seat then go to BMW and get their seats as they are exactly the same as the Porsche Junior except they are branded BMW and cost under £200 each.

Thanks very much Minny. We also have two monsters (the second one is 8 weeks old) and my wife is 5'2", so this may work!! Cheers.

Our kids are now 18 months and 3 and half years old and with the Porsche Junior seats in, the 4 of us can travel in relative comfort. Good luck.

I have been messing about with my child seat, it works well, but i am intending to drive down to the South west france with my 16 month old the problem being my wife is 5 foot 8, so think it could be tight on a long journey, but am keen to try and get us all in, my little one will have to sleep in the car seat looks a bit up right for that even when in tilt mode. Has any one had any experince of this on a long journey, my seat is a M+P pro tech.

Have a look at this thread I posted in last year.

Post about Rear child seats

In fact I've also just moved my youngest (nearly 4) to another of the larger Cybex seats but I found the M&P Pro-Tec very good.

I sold the first one to Philippe last year and now have the other one spare if anyone's interested. It's in good conditon (they don't get to eat in daddy's car)

My last message was in-correct my seat is a M+P not Maxi Cosi i was mixing it up with my daughters first baby seat.

The one i bought from Andy was like new and i am very pleased with it, so if someone is looking for one then this is a very good option.

Regards

Philippe

Thanks for all the advice! I purchased a M+P Pro-Tec for the 18 month old and a Maxi-Cosi for the 2 month old. After removing the rear seat bases, rear seat backs and adjusting the steering wheel inwards as far as it goes, I successfully managed to fit both child seats in the back. The Mrs's seat is as far foward as it goes, but she fits in OK, so the 996 cab has turned into a family car! (albeit with very little luggage space!).
