996 Rear Subframe Problem

Hi, Can anyone tell me whether they have had their rear tyres wearing out at 2500 miles. I'm now on my 3rd set of 265/35/18 Pzero's in 7 months. Its a '99 3.4 C2. I do not wheel spin it, but I do drive it hard. Been back to local OPC three times now and they have come up with nothing accept big bills! They did a 4 wheel alignment test costing £220 and the car came back with the steering wheel set at 35 degrees (not happy). They since put that right but the rear of the car still wants to jump a tiny bit to the left when I hit a pot hole or similar. Just feels weird. Independent porsche garage has recommended new shocks Help.

I had a TT that ate tyres at 2500miles and at a push 3000miles.
I had the geometry checked a few times and nothing was any better, when I had the last set of tyres fitted they Laser aligned it and described it as extreme [&:]
In the end I actually bought a new car and traded that one in, I have now have done over 6500 miles on a set of rears..putting me £600 up[:)] (OK it cost me a new car)

I am just on 11,000 miles on the same set of rear tyres and there is plenty of meat left on them yet. In fact they look just worn in and the tread is even across the tyres. But I use non Porsche approved 19" Goodyear Eagle F1 GS/D3s. Prior to this I had 18" Pzeros and they lasted about 7000 miles.

Wonder if that's because they are being lubricated with oil from the RMS?[:D]

Have u thought about having the car jigged to make sure any structural repairs were done properly? Some Porsches that have been in accidents are not repaired by official Porsche specialists ( 23 in the country ). They are the only people to have Porsche Jig brackets. These are tested yearly by Porsche engineers at each of the specialists. The car can be fixed by a universal jig or measuring device however they are only as accurate as the operator uses them and how well set up they are.

If you continue to have tyre wear after the suspension changes you may need to consider getting the car jigged properly at a specialist.

Sorry for this news.... [:(]
