996 S tyre wear

Hi guys

I wonder if anyone has input for an issue i am experiencing. My 996 S came fitted with Pirelli P Zero Asimmetrico tyres and I have replaced these, over the years, as and when needed. However in September 2013 I needed new back tyres and the fronts were not that far off replacement too. At Micheldever tyres they told me the Asimmetrico was no longer produced. One way and another (think there was a promotion running) they persuaded me to buy Bridgestone Potenza S02A N3 etc etc. This was at a mileage of around 63,100.

Since then I had to replace the rears in August '15 at 72,500 and have just had to fork out for rears last week at 76,000. I garage the car over winter and hence low mileage figures. My question is has anyone experienced tyre wear of this nature. I think less than 9,000 and then 4,000 for a set of rears excessive as I am no hooligan and I do a lot of motorway driving, which I reckon would not stress the tyres a lot. So my question is is it the tyres or is something else amiss in the car. If the latter any clues as to what ?

That does seem to be not much mileage on your Potenza's. I know its not a direct comparison but I have a 987 Boxster with 19 inch Potenza's - 235/35 front and 265/35 rear now at 18000 miles ( yes I know it's not much) they still have plenty of tread on them. And I do the odd track day.

I presume we're talking 986 and not 996 here? Either way that's low miles for rears. When did you last have a proper 4 wheel alignment and geo done?

Do you know where the tyres have been wearing? Inner or outer edges. My money would be on the inner edges of the rear tyres where the suspension has settled and they have too much negative camber.
