I am not sure any one else might be aware but saw this on 911uk

it rather looks like Porsche are supplying the short block for these engines at a very reasonable price and you can even get an x51 block

price was around £2700+ vat !!!!!!!!!

Finally Porsche are supporting all those customers who have shown incredible loyalty

not sure how long it will last but it will certainly revive the fortunes of the 996 may even rejuvenate the second hand market good news all round

I am sure Richard will get his computer out and tell us exactly what the price is

Hmmmmmm

Depends on the model year, but prices vary between around £8,800 and £13,100. Don't know where the £2,700 comes from - I was barred from 911UK a couple of years ago, so haven't been back since.

I think you will find it reality your 2 is upside down and the short block is only the bottom end so if youve got any damage then it still ends up costing 5 figures plus using a "new short Porsche engine".

Best route still tge £5-6k rebuild route.....

you dont have to post to read the forum

it is a thread that has been running they are trying to decide what this includes it looks like there will be clarification but I know in the past Porsche have done this sort of thing obviously the devil is in the detail just thought it looked interesting I had suspended my usual cynicism this evening before posting

I have no affiliation I have the fabled mezger engine which I had to have rebuilt

Porsche have had the M96 short engines on PET for a few months now. There was a chap on Boxa.net who had one fitted to his 987 Cayman, and it cost his warranty company £13,000. http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=62547&page=2

It isn't that I couldn't read the 911UK thread, it is just that I don't want to.

Suggestion is that the price on the system is a lot more but when ordering price calculates at £2.7k.

Maybe they will follow with a Boxster engine at a reduced price...

Why were you banned from their forum Richard??

I'm pretty sure they are available for the 986.
