On personal recommendation from my R12 RO following a new cabrio top on his 968 type, I bought my replacement 996 cab top from these people:

in America.

They were very helpful to deal with over the t'internet and were fully sympathetic to the issues of importing from USA to GB.

They also supplied me with the matching black fabric to recover the roll hoop bar and the pop-up wings at either end. (My car originally had a grey cab top and roll bar covering.)

Price was excellent, fabric quality and finish was likewise excellent.

The issues to deal with though were:
1. Their roof re-uses your glass heated rear window which partly accounts for the excellent price. They mark the cut line but it's down to your coach trimmer to refit your window.
2. I think that 1. makes it a job for a specialist coach trimmer and out of the realms of DIY.

I used a traditional coach trimmer down here in Suffolk; I had to wait for a slot in his schedule and he was very complementary about the quality, fit and finish of the German Auto Top roof. My total cost was astonishingly low by the way.

Hope this helps?
