996 TT Cab Detailed

Had someone spend 2 days detailing my car, and i'm over the moon with the results....
I thought i was anal about how careful i was when i cleaned my car, but after seeing the amount of awful swirls i had, when under a spot light, i was horrified:(
This is due to months of washing it with a normal sponge, which i now know is the devils work:mad:
The company was Detail Finish, and he has worked miracles correcting the paintwork, and i can't recommend him high enough.
Finished with Swissol wax

Looks brilliant, I think a certain 'other' brand should be shaking in their boots?...

Missed a bit.
Only joking!

Those swirls looked nasty. I get mine done by the local Croatian carwash but swirls are nowhere near as bad.
Very interested in the service your guy did.
What's included and how much?

Nice[8D]

I'm going to have to get mine done now.....sick of seeing pics of how good everyones look[&o]

You'd be very surprised !!!

Get a strong lamp/torch and shine closely on the paintwork, trust me you'll be close to tears[:(]

I could hardly see these ones until they were under a strong light...

Thing is, once this has been done, the dirt will fall off the car, as long as i wash it properly, and not using a devils sponge !!!

also.. tyou can only truely assess the paint once its 100% clean... and i mean a good couple of hours of de greasing, de tar-ing, clay bar-ing (lots of ings here) but once its clean then you can see them as in those pics.

re the wax ... can you keep us informed on how it lasts over winter. i'm looking to start using it myself and wondered what the durability was like over winter.

cheers

I see these posts a few times and no one ever mentions the cost.

I am interested in getting my Boxster done as the paintwork has a few light car park scratches in the lacquer.

So go on, from a Scotsman, how much??

It depends on how bad your car is in the 1st place....

I am guessing a 1 day detail would be around £300-£350....but don't quote me on this, as every
car detail is different....

I can get the guy to mail you if you are seriously after a quote.....

He spent a total of 14 hours on my car, so if you work out that out per hour, then take off their
material and travelling costs, they aren't taking the P**s IMO

so was that the free detail, hhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmm using Zuffenstuff, no wonder [:D] hope he's doing it free for everyone else

Time to let this go Sunny

bearing a grudge because you got passed by an Audi TT at Combe in the 993 - let it go FFS

Glenn your car looks fantastic now - the damage before though

Sponge in the bin I think!

Can I ask which part of the country you are in - or more pertinently, what part of the country the detailer works in.

and if I actually knew anything about that I could actually be bothered, people who think td's are all about car they have passed are well, as i've always said, they havent and will never have a clue...

looks like newregistartions will have a good day

so my advice is to get in a proper Zymol approved detailed, and I believe you know the number [:D] of zymol

I believe when zymol get their approved list up on their new website it will be very clear...

but here is one of them www.elitedetailing.co.uk

We all have plenty of war stories! Let's be nice and keep the stories in the archives shall we? I remember the monster fish that got away... it was 10 feet long I tell ya! [;)]

Swissol/Zymol/P21s/Halfords on brand, heck shoe polish... if applied right, they all look good.
I think premium products are all much a muchness, and it's mostly about the technique/preparation.
IIRC, didn't one of the Concours cars at a PCGB event win and it was using Halford's own brand?
And if I paid £350 for a detail, I'd expect the car AND driveway AND all the house windows to be spotless. Plus my shirts ironed.

Nice car Glenn. Metallic dark blues always look superb when freshly cleaned and waxed.

if your in scotland try dave at jac in a box. he covers most of scotland for swissol i believe. although he might have hibernated for the winter [:D]

if your nearer cambs. you could try www.cambridgeautogleam.com [;)]
