996 TT Exhaust

Guest

New member
Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to this forum and have bought myself a 996TT and love it. My only gripe is how quiet my TT is, I don't want it over loud but would like a little more of a growl. Tubi exhausts seem to be a favourite with alot of the guys on pistonheads but was just wondering what people on here thought. Is a Fabspeed loud system to loud?

Cheers

Hi Saulk
With regards to how loud the pipes are, I would ask the question, do you do track days? If yes then you have to be careful not to get a pipe system that is too loud, or you will not be allowed on track. I have had Europipes fitted to mine and they sound fab and are okay for all the db noise levels of UK tracks.

Hi mate,

I don't do track days, well not so far, I just don't want a pipe that sounds like it belongs on a MK2 escort, I just want a little more of a growl.

Cheers

The Europipe is fine for Bedford. Went for a DB test and they came under their db maximum level, done the track day on the 12th Dec and all was okay. They sound lovely and certainly do not sound like an escort. In my opinion they sound much better than other makes and also on the turbo you lose any turbo lag, plus gain some bhp.

I'm not sure my Europipe (stage 2 LOUD) would pass at bedford.

Make sure you stick the back end of the car over the grass when they do the test ;)

If I want loud for driving around and quiet 4 track days whats the best option.

Andy

Nope - not at all

One system does have a electronic by-pass valve but i'm not sure how well it works with the heat from the turbo's
