996 TURBO AERO KIT PLUS X-50 HELP

Hi all,
I am in the market for purchsing a 996 turbo, just need some help in identifying the difference between a factory fitted aero kit and a standard car, am i right in thinking its the front and rear spilers that are different as i have seen some cars advertised with just diferent rear spoilers and a standard painted looking front looking spoiler.

Any images would be of great help showing what the real aero kit looks like.

Also is the x-50 upgrade only a factory fitted option from when the car was new or can it be added on to a standard car after the factory.

Any information on the above will be greatly appreciated, i am looking for a silver or steel grey manual 996 turbo price range between £50,000 and £60,000

cheers phil

This one got my attention, although i have my heart set on a GT2, it's worth a look, i'll go with you if you like http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/102652.htm

the "normal" front spoiler is virtually straight up and down, the aerokit one juts forward as can be seen on the silver one linked above.

X50 can't be retro fitted, and it comes with large intercoolers IIRC....

The Aerokit front lip spoiler is different to the standard lip, and is more pronounced and slightly lower, these can be a real pain
on speed bumps, as the standard ones will bend a bit easier, before coming off.

The rear wing is a fixed bi-plane job, instead of the moving standard unit.

The lower side skirts are painted in the body colour when this option is selected too..

would i be right in saying that you can have an aero kit one or an aero kit two, the aero kit two being the smooth lower front spoiler as in the link above.

cheers phil

As the other guys have said, you can't retro fit the X-50.
There is only one type of aero-kit, personally I don't like it, particularly that weird front splitter that is painted body colour & shows all the marks & scuffs more than the standard black item! But as always each to their own.

hi, going to view the 996 turbo the one in the link above. I have spoken to the owner at length an it sounds really nice and very exciting to drive. I will let you all know tomorrow evening. Also thanks for all information regarding the aero kit and x-50 package.

Cheers Phil

Hi all, I've gone and brought my dream car, it's the 996 turbo in the piston heads link above deposit paid and finance arranged and i am picking it up on the 6th january its going to be a long christmas and new year i've been waiting 25 years to own one so another two weeks should be no problem!! as for the car itself AWESOME!! is the only word for it, absolutly stunning to look at and drive it pulls and pulls like a train and just doesn't stop and goes round corners like they arn't there itsgot full aerokit factory x50 plus dms tuned to 580bhp just can't wait.

Cheers for all info will post pictures when i take delivery
Phil

Glad i could help Phil, i have to admit i'm quite envious as i said i thought long and hard about buying it myself, i'm pleased to hear it was everything it said it was. Remember 580bhp is one hell of a lot of grunt, learn its limits on a bedford track day or such, oh and make sure you take the monster to Le Mans in the summer
Enjoy
Jonathan
