996 Turbo Front Spolier Removal

The lip is supposed to be quite important for the car aerodynamics. Its a few clips/rivets that hold it on... I certainly wouldn't suggest you remove it at all. They do take quite a bashing from the big ramps, but being black they just scruff up.. garyw

Newbie so sorry if this has been covered - I did a serach first - honest!

I have just bought a 996 turbo cab and will be bringing it down here to Spain, where pretty vicious sleeping policemen and speed ramps are quite common, not to mention the steep drive to my house. I'm pretty sure this will ensure I am constantly bashing the lower strip on the front spoiler. I hear these are over 100 pounds a go, so do not wanting to buying one a week!

If I take it off does the car look stupid? - are there messy clips and brackets on show?

All advice appreciated. Anyone done this and have pictures?

Thanks Gary - Mine has been matched to the car colour - Speed Yellow - not the best for hiding scrapes! I guess I should give it a week or so and see how it goes!
