996 turbo sports exhaust suggestions

turbs

New member
I am after a sports exhaust that sounds more like a 4S. I appreciate the turbos suppress the sound.
But its the rawness of the 4S that i am after. Not massive noise and booming.
I recently fitted the GT2 fabspeed exhaust and took off 4 hrs later as it was unbearable. I am also not keen on the tubi.
Any suggestions.

The problem is to get enough noise inside it has to be pretty loud outside, also virtually all the systems "boom" in the cabin around the 2k mark, although some are worse than others. I have a cargraphic (medium, they do different levels) with 100cell racing cats, turbo's spool up quicker, smidgen more grunt, much better sound at the top end with nice growl on tickover, but does boom around 2k. there are plenty of other systems to choose from Miltek, Dansk, etc etc. One tip is to look for a system that has been TUV (german aftermarket seal of approval) approved, as these aren't generally TOO loud.
This has been discussed many time before, do a search of this section & see what pops up.
It is worth getting the posrche mags & asking your opc to look out for a second unit, could save you a packet!

Hi

We use a stainless steel system from the turbos back but retain OEM exhaust tips for original appearance. We run 200 cell catalytic converters which up to 700 BHP are as efficient as 100 cell but help to eliminate the booming inside the car. The system is probably good for around 20 BHP and 10 lb/ft. Sound is not obtrusive but a lot deeper and far more purposeful. Noise test meets 90dB at 1 metre so no problems with track day 'noise police'. Have one customer who fitted Fabspeed system and physically drives with ear plugs in due to resonance
