996 turbo ticking sound increases with revs

Hi all,

i have a 2004 996 turbo cab manual with 17,000 on the clock. Just had it serviced and has spark plugs, ignition coils and belts changed. However I have now noticed there is a ticking noise coming from the engin which speeds up on revs.

Understand the turbo's dont have IMS problems and could by a water pump or the like.....?!??

slightly concerned and will want to ask advice here before I go back to the garage who may take my concern as an opportunity to fleece me!

Thanks in advance.

Simon

Possibly one of the belts is over-tightened (although this normally creates noise in general, rather than ticking).

Loose spark plug perhaps?
+1, especially if it only started happening since the service and it is making a slight 'chirping' sound. A pain to check though, as the rear PU and intercoolers will have to come off again.

Thanks all.

Mechanic has diagnosed the noise coming from the steering reservoir. Left it with them as they want to take a closer look.

Ticking noise can now be heard in neutral and the ticking is getting louder with revs!!

Will keep all updated.

Cause was the power steering pump. All fixed now, not a common fault but porsche are aware of the ticking sound when it occurs. Thanks to everyone for the responses.
