A friend of mine has just joined PCGB and is joining me at the Donington track day in a couple of weeks. He has a std 996 Turbo on road tyres has done a couple of track days but this is the first in the turbo.

Can anyone please suggest a starting point for hot tyre pressures for track use? Any thing else he should be aware of / check etc.

Thanks for your help.

Track work usually raises pressure by upto 15psi when hot, i just let the extra air out, and bring it back down to Factory recommended levels and then feels fine.

Going slightly below factory can give a bit more grip, but knocks the crap out of the side walls.
Too high, and the car feels slippery.

I have spare set of 996 Turbo alloys fitted with cup trackday tyres for sale if he is interested.
