996 Turbo Trasmission Choice

Hi,
I'm just about to go a view a 996 Turbo tomorrow as an upgrade from my current 964 C2. I've set my search on a low(ish) milage black / black manual but the 2 local dealers I've been watching have yet to have one on the books in the 4 months I've been looking. The car I'm seeing tomorrow is a Midnight Blue / Metropole Blue Tiptronic S. It's got loads of good stuff including ali' handbreak and gearshift, embossed seats and leather trim round almost everything.

I've no experience of the tiptronic gearbox and apart from the odd comment about its weight, fuel economy and the fact it is slightly slower than the manual I wonder if there was any considered opinions / views on the tiptronic I should be aware of before I seriously consider it. The same goes for the manual gearbox if there is anything I should consider.

I'm quite excited now. I've always dreamed about owning a Porsche 911 Turbo and I can't quite believe I'm going to start seriously looking now.

Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Nick

I think the first line of your post says it all.......

heart set on black/black manual, the car you're going to see is a different colour combo and transmission. The car you want is out there just be patient.

I've not had a tiptronic so can't comment but more than happy with the manual box on mine

I'll be looking to sell my black/black manual with approx 55k miles soon - just have to get a couple of things sorted on it first before its ready for sale, send me a pm/mail if interested in more details.
