996 turbo tyre wear.

[&:] 6000 miles and the inside edges of the rears are almost through to the cloth.

The rest of the width of the tyre is like new...frightening.

Is this normal behaviour or have I got a geometry problem?

thanks guys

Was the car bought second hand, and has it been tweeked. Sounds as though some negative camber has been dialled in to the rears, which is quite usual if you intend to use the car on trackdays

Sounds like a proper 4 wheel alignment is needed, presuming your mileage isnt in the realms of needing parts of the suspension replaced.

Mines standard, no lowered or modified suspension, and my tyres wear pretty evenly. Inside edges get a little more wear, but not much. You do need to watch the tyre pressures though.

The car is standard apart from the 19" Cargraphics. (and exhaust but that won't affect the geometry) It only had 13800 miles when I bought it and it's done 20k now. Infact the wheels and tyres probably went on at around 15k so they've only done 5000 miles. I keep a check on pressures too

The tyres are 315/25/19. Don't reackon the previous owner was a speed merchant and was unlikely to have set it up for track.

Just wondered if any one had a similar experience. Think I'll get it set up and go from there.

thanks
