996 Turbo wheels

Afternoon. Wonder if anyone can help. I have a 2002 996 turbo with standard 18inh turbo wheels. Not my favourite wheel and really
favourite looking wheel want to upgrade them, can the car take 19 or even 20inh wheels ???

Welcome Alan!

The 996 was never designed for 19" wheels, and although they look nice, some say they spoil the feel of the car. Others have fitted 997 19" rims, but IIRC you'll need spacers as the offsets are different.

Personally, if I wasn't happy with the look, I would go for a better looking 18" wheel. A nice set of HRE's perhaps?

I had a 2002 Turbo. It came with a set of 19in Porsche Sport Classic wheels. They rubbed when the springs were fully extended.

I chose to switch to the 18 inch Turbo wheels which I preferred, so it is all down to personal taste.

Hi, Seems like I feared and changing sizes will just cause other issues, certainly don't want to spoil the feel of the car. 18inh HRE's look a possibility then. Thanks for advice

Don't forget they're hollow-spoke wheels and pretty light for their size.

Make sure any replacement is similarly light, or you will change the feel of the car a lot (you might get lucky, but probably not...).

Mine had sports techno wheels. I liked those.

Mine has Technos too, fitted to the car when new :) Look better IMHO to the standard turbo's.
