Hi been looking at purcahsing a 996 for about 5 months now and found one that seems a very good spec (see below) Only problem is i think he's looking for too much. Does it have full OPC history serviced on time, and how many owners, i presume it is a UK car?

Sounds like it has lots of goodiess.

I would have thought low 30s... What is he asking?
PS Apart from a couple of grand factored in for the the GT3 aerokit I don't think there is that much on it that would justify that much more money. Not as if it has PCM? does it have traction control or PSM?

2 owners full opc service history. Has psm (thought all c4's did) no pcm. Warranty runs out tomorrow.
And hes looking for £37k, which i thought was steep. Thought £35k for minter was about right with that spec though.

I would agree £35.000 lots may say that you can get one cheaper but if that is the spec you want colour in and out, and you been looking for 5 months then it sounds good plus low miles if you are not buying from OPC i would suggest that you get it checked out try Peter Morgan Tel 01672 514 038, and if all is ok you can get a Porsche Warranty for £720. If you want that piece of mind.

Just be quick - if the current Porsche warranty runs out you would need to get it inspected at £200 before re-issue of the warranty - better getting the seller to do this as it is simply extended if current.

£30k max, 2002 52 reg C2s at OPCs now for £45k. C4 doesn't add a lot of value over C2, from my personal experience. 4 years older with the 3.4 motor must take quite a slug off that price. I p/exd an 02 52 C4 (excellent spec) last November for a 997 and got £43k, it went on the forecourt at £49k.

FWIW I've just bought a 23,000m '99 T-reg C4 from an OPC, not as well equipped as yours, for £36k including fitment of a Tracker. Obviously, yours is worth a bit less for being non-OPC and being S-reg but more because of the extra equipment so I would have thought £35k is about right

I pxed a 31k mile july 2002 c2 fully loaded cost 63K list for 38k and it had extended warranty.

Porshe noe have it at 49K!!!!

Yours sounds expensive.

Wasn't traded in to solihull was it?

A quick look on Pistonheads shows asking price of 40k for one with similar miles but full PSH and C16 spec and that's just been serviced and warranted:-http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/130499.htm.
I'd say he would likely accept £38k private, probably be bid £34k (with a view to selling at around 40k) from the trade.
I'd say for C98 take off half the discount for LHD (around £5k?), and for incomplete service another 2.5k and you get £33k private and £29k bid from a dealer.
Sounds harsh?

Sounds fine although it is a right hand drive car.

I shall be suing the dealer for the difference between what I paid for it and what it's worth.

I know it's right hand drive so I think taking off only £2.5k instead of the £5k for LHD discount should apply.
I guess if I was selling it I would ask £35k to achieve anything between £33-35k.

Does your lawyer reckon it is more likely they will give you your money back, or the difference?

More to the point, shouldn't you be asking 'What price would a dealer be selling my car at?'
Because I don't think you could sue for the bid/offer spread + the difference.
In which case, with my rough figures, you should be suing for around £5k and probably accept a £3k settlement?

Paul from your other thread I'm not sure if the dealer told you it was an import, or did you find that out yourself afterwards?

If he didn't tell you about that, nor the real service history, nor that age difference[:'(]........then you should be suing for:-

What would a dealer be asking for a 2003 C98 import with incomplete service history (which IMO would be around £37k) and sue for the difference between that and what you paid for it (around £50k?)......so IMO that would be around £13k!

Crikey![:-]

Rodney, you should have been a lawyer!!
A friend of the family is a top city lawyer who advised me to sue for damages with the option of the dealer taking the car back. Damages are looked upon more favourably. Either suits me, I just want to get back out on the road in one of these fantastic cars as I can't drive it until the matter is sorted out.
£13k is cheap when you consider the costs he'll also have to pay!
Thanks for your help.
