996 water coolant leaks

Have I been unlucky or are water coolant leaks common, from this nylon manifold.

A hose has seperated from a nylon type material manifold , this manifold holds or joins 3 coolant pipes and no external fittings ie hose clips , the 3 pipe's simply push in.

would be interesting to know if this is a common problem, before I make my own stainless steel manifold with 3 hose clips.

2 of these units are fitted to the 996tt and are not very nice to get at when on a trip in Ireland , but I pushed them back in , filled up with new water and got home.

These units are adjacent to the underbody work about 6 inch away from the front diff and are a pain to reach.

any one had same problem ????
 
I'm aware of another owner that had this happen.. also another on to a 997 too..

Also had all rads replaced in last few years - they collect a lot of muck and seem to corrode all too easily- well worth removing nose cone for a good clean out on a regular basis. Info re that job on this site somewhere.
Not had any hose leaks yet but my header tank had to be replaced as it developed a crack for no obvious reason. I guess this new fangled water cooled business was a problem too far for Porsche when they introduced it for the 996.
 
I've had both radiators replaced on my C4S too.
Small pools of coolant found just in front of each front wheel...new radiators required! Great.
Not very good really...especially when my 13 year of Golf remains fluid-tight despite assorted forms of detritis sitting behind the bumper skin on that over it's lifetime.

Now fitted 2 new manifolds in stainless with 3 hose clips , problem will never happen again,
 
I have read with interest the issue of coolant leakage. I have a 996 turbo with a slight coolant leak on the LHS of the engine (dripping pipe). It was difficult for two garages to diagnose and required two pressure tests of the coolant system. The leak does not effect anything and is minimal but it is highly annoying. I have been advised that the only way to fix it is to remove the engine as it is very difficult to access. Has anyone got any solutions or advice as I do not really want to remove the engine to replace one pipe.
