996 wheels onto a 2.5 Boxster can it be done

Deanward

Gentlemen, I have a set of 996 Turbo look alloys from my 996 C2 1998 and I wanted to fit them to a Boxster. The car is a 2.5 1998. I tried them and they rubbed on the inside, I assume I need spacers and have no idea what size. Any help or info would be much appreciated..... Dean

18" wheels are only recommended for 98 model year onwards so double check your Boxster is 98MY and has the revised suspension.

The front rims should be exactly the same 7.5X18" offset 50mm and a 225/40ZR18 tyre

Your rear rims should be 10 x 18 inches with offset (ET) of 65mm

For the Boxster the rear offset needs to be 52mm (ET52) so you'll need to fit a 13mm spacer to the rear hubs. The Boxster used 9 inch wide rears, but 10" and 265/35ZR18 tyres are fine, but you must cable tie the brake line to the suspnsion arm as the inner edge of the tyre/rim may rub the brake line.

Thanks gents I now have a fat arsed Boxster and it looks fantastic. For info I used 15 mil spacers with longer nuts. The rear wheels were 18 with the 65 offset and did have 265 tyres. Its a good conversion and now I will have to watch as they get battered by the wife!!!!!!!

Did not cable tie anything back and will do that tonight, appreciate all of your help!

So glad you mentioned about the cable ties and the brake pipes.... Phew that could have been nasty! Thanks again... Dean
