996 Window Issue

Hi all,

new to the forum & may have posted this under the wrong section previously! (technical)

I've just re-purchased a 2002 996 Targa that I originally bought in 2006 & sold in 2008.

It has an issue with the drivers window going back up once the door is open.
I found a thread in the technical section.

In the Typical faults section mine is number 2 - The window drops, but goes back up when the door opens. This can be the handle microswitch, or more likely the "˜door open/closed microswitch' (c) has stuck

Anyone know which of these is most likely to be the issue & what the part is so that I can order one?

Many thanks

It is most likely the microswitch in the door lock assembly which senses if the door is open or closed. The system 'thinks' the door is closed, so it sends the window back up when you let go of the handle.

Ideally, you could get a diagnostic check done to confirm this. The Porsche tester can read the signals from the microswitches, so you can confirm which one is the problem

Unfortunately, the microswitches within the door lock assemble aren't available individually, so you have to buy the whole lock at a cost of about £120.

Just need to stop the targa roof rattling now!
Been reading some good articles on this so have some things to try over the weekend.
