996TT sports seats

The sports seats offer more bolstering on the sides. Those with broad shoulders (or parts south thereof!) will probably not like them, but others might. You will or you won't, basically.
Electric adjustment is the seat back only unless the car was ordered with the releavant exclusive special order. Even then, memory is not available.

I don't know about the memory function bit, but the sports seats in a Turbo are the same as in a Boxster. My Boxster S has them and some days I like them and other days I find that they squash my shoulders too much. The sports seats have plastic backs and the shoulder supports. The comfort seats don't have the plastic backs. You need to try both and see which is most comfortable for you. The OPC will have plenty of examples of both to try.
Are you any nearer to the LHD Turbo?
If your looking at that age car with sports seats make sure they have been replaced or have confirmation it wasn't subject to the recall.

I find them very comfortable but im not very wide in the shoulder department.
Did 2100 miles in less than a week and all was fine.
Ive heard thatsome peeps arent happy with them in a boxster due to the seats not being low enough hence steering wheel in the knees, i cant say i find that a problem and im a 6'2" build.

Have seen a car that I quite like, only concern is the sports seats - so will have to try them out, but will probably wait until after new year to make the purchase - reckon prices should be more pliable then anyway, in the dead of winter.

Standard (comfort) seats have electric adjustment for fore/aft, seat up/down and tilt (i.e. you can raise the front a back separately), and recline.
Sports seats have electric recline, manual seat up/down (with no tilt function), manual fore/aft (which I actually prefer since the electric motors are slow when trying to get people/things in and out of the rear).
Sports seats have a plastic back with a leather pocket on it (for paper storage, since you won't get much more in it). The back is by default painted to match the interior (soft touch paint is a cost option) but can be painted to match the exterior colour as a cost option, or covered in leather for a more cost option.
Comfort seats have the back in leather by default.
Both have the coat hook on them, and both have the release for tilting them forward on the side in the same place.
The comfort ones can have ruffled leather.
Only the comfort ones have a memory function. The sports ones can have electric adjustment but no memory function even if you want it.
Electric lumbar support is a cost option on both, but I have not seen a car with it.
The side bolsters are slightly deeper/tighter on the sports seats.
The main difference is the little winglets by your shoulders.
If you hold the wheel with both hands at quarter to three as you drive, then they are more supportive and quite comfy.
My shoulders are reasonably broad and I find it quite comfy, but after about 2-3 hours I need a 10-20 minute break to rest them. However, the extra support is worth it and as soon as I get out, then I feel fine. The seats do get more comfy after you sat in them for for a while.
I got the comfort ones on the C4S I had and was not convinced about the sports ones, but specified them on the TT. I do not regret that decision.
I have spent 8 hours sat in them on one day, with two 20 min breaks, and one 2 hour break in the middle, and I felt fine.
I really like both seats. Neither immediately strike you are super comfy, but you can spend an entire day in them and get out without any aches, which means they are pretty good.
I may be a wimp, but try to find a car with heated seats, they are worth it in winter. It is an option on both types. You do not need to keep them on, just turn them on for the first 5 mins and you are nice and comfy.
I've never really liked the 'winglets' on the later seats, although my wife has them on her car and prefers them. IMO the best seats were the sports seat option on the 3.2 Carrera to 964 Carrera. They really gripped around the kidneys.
I've tried the new adaptive sports seats and they seem superb.
Electric Memory Seats are very, very useful if the car is driven by more than one person. Otherwise, there are just too many permutations to set it right again.
I agree with Stuart. Heated seats are simply superb and most women adore them.
However, in colder weather, I keep mine on all the time. I set them to the lower setting and run the cabin slightly cooler. I find this more comfortable and refreshing.

I think the best seats are the GT3 buckets, but these are just too impractical for everyday use. I'd love to have these, but just can't bring myself to discard all use of the rear. Hence the sports seats.
I think Skyline R33 and Renault R19 16V seats are pretty good (for the slimmer person), but all seating choices are dependent upon your build and expected use.

just to say that the memory function is very useful, although I like the looks of the sports seats & they are "slightly" more grippy I wouldn't want to loose the memory.
Personally I find it's hard to get a good driving position in the 996 (I'm over 6ft) & once obtained the memory function is great. If some one else drives it etc it simply remembers your hard found personal setting, GOLDDUST & the function is standard on all TT's with standard seats!
