996Turbo Exhaust Options

New member
Hi Guys,

I have just picked up a 996tt and would like to change the exhasut or a sportier sound.

I have bought a few magazines and searched the net and it seems so many companies have exhaust systems to sell, Tubi seems quite poular but just wanted to hear from anyone who has done this.

could anyone post details of their experiences? brand, hows the noise? performance gains? cost?

many thanks

Lee

Europipe seem to be a very popular choice with different sound levels available. They are extremely well made and offer decent power gains.

I have a Techart system fitted to my GT2 which is very OEM like on tickover and low revs, however howls like a banshee when the turbo's kick in... amazing sound with almost zero drone at motorway speeds. [;)]

I have always used Haywood & Scott Basildon, they will dev. an ex. to your spec. thier work is superb and about 30% cheaper than all the others, great bunch of lads, mention my name and get a qoute as a guide.

that would be great , i'v taken the plunge anyway and should be having one fitted tuesday , in time to go to Le Mans. But would realy like to hear one in the flesh first.

You about over the weekend.

what happened? How is the Tubi?

Sorry to say I had it removed due to a faulty set of exhausts, seems like some bright spark in the Tubi factory forgot to put baffles in the exhausts so I had them removed.... they were completely empty. I was not the only one too!

the same evening I had a Titanium Design Tek fitted which I am very pleased with, so I will never know how good the Tubi was. I could have waited but I was torn between the two in the first place and this just topped the scales.

the Design tek is very good and 40kg lighter than original! I will get round to making some sound files.

Cheers

Just bought a 996tt which came with quite new Milltek and 100 cell cats (I think - could be the 200 cell) anyway the sound is great - not boomy - and they seem well made. Haven't seen much mention of Milltek on Forum and would probably have gone for Tubi just on reputation if car hadnt come with them but really pleasntly surprised with good compromise of these millteks.

Hi Phil

Spoke to Ray West about Miltek for the 996tt, he spoke very highly of them and said on the cars he has tuned he has seen the best gains from the miltek! interesting.

he also fits the tubi!!

Whoisit - no real drone from mine, I talk on my car phone all of the time and have no probs with people hearing me etc

I too have just brought a 996TT in Basalt Black, black full leather sports interior, manual. It also has a Milltek exhaust fitted by Ray West, it sounds great, no motorway drone, subtle at low revs and a banshee at high revs and hard acceleration. I think it has 100 cell cats and seems very free reving, can't really compare it to standard though ! I am told that the car was run up to 508HP on Ray West's rolling road, seems very high to me but I have yet to speak to him to find out the history. It's not an X50- anyone any thoughts on that claim ?

sounds about the output someone like AMD would expect with their remap and the Millteks for which they are agents.
