Which way round does the button work for a sports Exhaust on an 05 997 S.

If the orange light is on - does this mean the exhaust is loud?

At work MPH does the "loud" part kick in?

I have a 997 2S 2005. I thought mine had it on but even though it has a sport mode button it does not mean you have the bellows for a loud exhaust. mike

Orange light on = sports mode.
For some reason this makes the exhaust quiet at town speeds.
The proper noise kicks in North of 4k and goes mental by 6k 😁

Orange light is on when in "loud" mode. From memory only, which is not as good as it used to be, I think it cuts between 30-50mph and at certain rpm to satisfy the drive by noise limits. However, you can disconnect the "brown (some say orange) plug" and have it in loud all the time.

Can't you hear the difference then?

As already stated ...light is on for loud. Even on it goes quiet between 30 and 50mph. I usually run mine disconnected in the engine compartment so loud all the time. Simply unplug the connector. I re connect mine once every so often and switch it a few times as I'm told the flaps can seize up if left open permanently.
Sounds awesome.

As above orange light =shouty - does default to off every time ignition turned off unless you disconnect as described above
You should be able to hear a marked difference even at idle if you toggle on and off switch

Hi Steve, my late 2007 gen 1 has sports exhaust PSE, as default the amber light remains on and the car sounds quiet at idle and reasonably quiet in town, however if I flick the switch so the light is off. The cars sounds much more throaty and remains so through the Rev range. Maybe it can be programmed to toggle? Either way. Mine seems to be louder with the light off!
Regards,

Jas
