997.1 TPMS query

Hi Guys

Was just wondering if anyone has experience of TPMS batteries getting low - my TPC warning comes on now and then, and then clears. I have been told that the batteries are in their last few months now. I understand that I will need to replace the entire sensor. These seem to be quite expensive from OPC (over £1,000 with fitting!!) and aren't covered under my warranty as it is classed as wear and tear!

Any tips on a way round this? I can get the parts for about £400/£500 and get my local tyre shop to fit them but wanted to see if there were any other options.

Ta!

How old are the existing batteries so I can understand if and when I might have the same issue?

They have a 5/6 year life cycle normally and then need replacing.

Take a look in the Members Only Technical Section Index for info and alternative suppliers.

Regards,

Clive.

My car is an October 2007 so the battery life is rightly coming to an end. Will have a look at the tech section.

Thanks!

My porsche is a 2007 MY i just had them replaced at the end of last year the sensor that was removed was a Huf beru product factory fitted and had a date on it which was installed when the cars was manufactured in late 2006, I replaced all four with generic sensors I-SENSOR same frequency and all four fitted by kwik fit and coded up for £293.00 which includes a discount of £59.85 ,nitro inflation and wheel ballance. i'm not sure if they will last as long as the huf sensor but i have been assured its a german part of same quality .

Sounds like a very good deal. I just had mine replaced (eight yr life) at my local PC - initial price quoted was £790 but this came down after valves were re-used and PCGB discount to £550.

The price above also includes new stems ,valves and its working just as well as the Huf product
