Hi there chaps. Anyone had an issue with a boiling gas type noise once the engine has been turned off? It comes from the A/C vents I think. It stops after a minute, but I wondered if it was the a/c gas needing to be topped up. Anyone else had a similar experience?

997.2 air conditioning noise when stopped.

That’s how air conditioning works… The refrigerant boils in the evaporator, having passed through a restriction, taking heat out of the air passing through the core. If the vents blow cold air, I’d say there is no problem. I’m not a Porsche owner, so don’t know where the evaporator is located but it is usually in the bulkhead close to the vents. My Mercedes makes a similar noise briefly after shutdown.
Thanks for replying. I understand how a/c works. It just that the noise is new and wondered if anyone had had the same experience and what it led to.
looks like it is a squeaky fan.... anyone replaced one of these??
Thanks Steve. Your are right. Just had it re-gassed and it has disappeared. Thanks for replying.
