997.2 Recall Work

Guys,

Just more of an FYI, but my Targa 4s Gen 2 has just returned from my OPC, following the recall work that I was contacted about.

The work that was carried out was an update of the software on PCM V3, as well as some additional exhaust front pipe clamps.

It also needed some work doing to the engine mounts, but they did not have all the parts in stock so it has to go back to have that part completed.

I also had them look at my orientation light, which if you recall had not worked since I collected the car.

Apparently the housing and PCB for the LED module was broken, which is why it has never worked from the get go.

Again they have had t order in a new part for this as it is not an item that is stocked.

Has anyone else had the warranty recalls advised, and subsequently attended to by their OPC?

Hi Nige,

I just had the exhaust brackets as a recall. I had a feeling there was a PCM update in the offing but when I contacted them about it they said mine had been done! Hadn't heard anything about engine mounts, is that very recent? Anyway, it's gone now so not my problem any more, no doubt the next one will have recalls too! [&:]
How's the Caterham going![;)] My Marlin is in for an upgrade to 300bhp.[8D]

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the response.

As you say its no longer your problem, if you no longer have that car!!

I don't know about the engine mounts, and not sure what the issue is.

I did read over on renntech that some of the 997.2 models were prone to one of the engine mounts shearing, so perhaps they are changing them as a precaution.

Not been out in the Caterham that much, weather has been too bad, but I do have my first track day at Mallory Park this Sunday the 24th, so I hope the weather holds, as 263 bhp in something that small and light is not good in icy conditions!!

Might be interesting.

Hi, do you know what the PCM update is for and is there anyway to find out from chasis number what cars nee dthe updates?
Thanks.

Nigel, no contact from the OPC, and spoke to the sales guy the other day who didn't mention anything. Perhaps earlier Gen2 cars? But thanks, will check.

I have yet to take my car in to the OPC, but was advised about a month ago to have the exhaust brackets checked for cracks, but are more concerned at the moment that I have caught 5 mice in the garage last week! By the way the traps were set with roasted sweet chestnuts.

Which version do you have now Mark? I think according to a Renntech thread I was reading that the latest is 1.4, unless that is for the US only?

http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=28931&hl=pcm3+version

Yes, it's under PCM Settings, Display.

The version of mine (car built 7/12/2009) is 1.41.
