I Have been warned that the 997.2 9A1 engine has a potential problem with a 'Sleeve' mounted inside the Inlet camshaft moving and cutting off the oil supply [the camshaft is hollow]. apparently this can be fixed by 'pinning' the sleeve. does anyone know about this?

I've spoken to the Warranty manager at my local Porsche Centre and this is a new one on him. ( and you can't say that very often!) Where is your source for this?

Isn't the 6speedonline thread about a 2007 turbo? My Google searches seem to throw up references to 997.1 "spun" camshafts not 997.2? The famous "bulletproof" Mezger not the DFI gen 2 lump. Must confess to being a little confused. Do you have any links to 997.2 specific threads/articles?

I have to admit I had not looked closely as to whether the engine was Metzger or 9A1 but I was told the Camshaft design was the same and could suffer the same problem. I now suspect I over-reacted but Having had the RH turbo push oil into the intercooler due to a partially blocked breather, and now the LH Turbo oil seals failed [and I was told many times that the Turbos 'never fail'] I am now rather more paranoid than before [:-]
