997.2 turbo - August 18

Had a call from my dealer telling me the revised 997 turbo will be revealed/launched on 18 August. Details sketchy but:

- 500 bhp
- 0-60 in 3.4 seconds
- PDK
- Revised front and back ends, spoiler, wheels
- New steering wheel option with PDK paddles from January
- 2% price hike (though seems a tad optimistic IMHO)



 
LOL, it's clear this "news", if you can call it that, is being met with feverish anticipation by forum members. I hope for Porsche's sake it's more than a damp squib, may well be the last 911 variant launched before an independent Porsche is sucked into the VW combine.

Chris, supposedly yes, I saw a turbo being pounded around the Nurburgring last autumn, so if that was a development mule, it should be OK.

Gary - yes,m akes me thing the forums here are too finely divided...

Seems it's going to be a low key launch, no champagne and nibbles as there was for the original car. Credit crunch time... i've asked the dealer for a P/EX estimate on mine, not likely to be impressed.
