Hi all,
I discovered by chance that one of the front led light isnt working. Attached is the pic of the light i am talking about. Does anyone know what its called and where to buy the replacement in uk?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kevin

I dont know but didnt you just buy from an OPC? They should fix it for you!

Hi JCX,
Thanks for your message . Isnt light bulb part of wear and tear item? I know how to change it, in fact its in the manual but i am not sure which bulb from halfords is compatible.

Ah fair point... can you be sure it did work when you picked it up? Can you be sure it is just the bulb? I thought LED bulbs didnt really blow.

Cripes, you haven't been very lucky so far, have you?

I've noted you've had PDK problems, launch control troubles, windscreen damage and now sidelight difficulties - and you've only had the car 3 weeks! [&:]

I hope things improve for you.

Regards,

Clive

Thanks guys :)

FYI. Just read the manual p236. It tells you how to change the bulb. Apparently there is a bulb at end of that led cluster. I will try to replace it with the 501 w5w bulb. Am trying to replace it with a whiter light instead of the yellow lights that comes with the manufacturer. Will let you guys know if it fits.

Kev.

I replaced the side light bulbs with LED's when I had my 997.2.
Whiter light, more robust and longer lasting, just be sure to get the right one to avoid sending up an error code.
The lens is secured by a self-tapping screw at one end and a hook at the other.

Thanks clive.

Which led bulb did you buy? Does it have to be canbus compatible? I am just getting the ordinary w5w bulbs.

Was that for the 997 tt that you had?

Kev

There's an article listed in the Index of the Register Technical section on this subject.
It's always worth checking in there first as there's a wealth of useful information for 997 owners.
Here's the thread to save you looking it up https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=641784
Unfortunately, due to recent vicissitudes of hosting sites, the photos are not appearing, but I'm sure the text will answer all the queries you have.

The drl, the ones lit in your avatar, aren't led as far as I know. I think the gen 2 997s were made pre led fad! Will have a closer look.......
The lights the OP refers to are not the drls

Quite right, dear boy. You are indeed the fountain of all knowledge 997-wise! [;)]
The side lights are designed to look like LED's but are in fact illuminated by single incandescent bulb on each side. These can be changed for canbus-friendly led's at small cost and well worth doing IMHO. [:)]

ah of course. its the indicators in the strip isnt it?! but they are LED arent they? should i have a lie down? :)

my rears are led... i think.

Front indicators are a strip of LEDs, the sidelight was a 501 as you noted.
A single screw on the underside allows the lamp cluster to slide off and be replaced by the CANBUS ready LED lamp.
I tried the standard Halfords LED but it did create issues - however it was along time back now.

Thanks very much for all of your help :) i have ordered a canbus compatible white led light . Will write something up on the replacement for others benefits.
