997.2 Turbo PDK start up issue

Hi I’ve just bought a 72k mile 997.2 Turbo PDK which had a main (independent) service and MOT on purchase. On day 7 I couldn’t start her after after a 30 minute prior drive (engine still warm)…she kept cutting out on start up… until I gave the accelerator a fast dab once the engine fired then she held. Engine sounds a little off on idle but when driving all good and no warning lights. Will be checking in with the garage this week but wanted to know if anyone had any similar experience or pointers. Thanks v much, Jon

Hi Jon,

Although there are a number of things which potentially could be causing your problem [a faulty VarioCam solenoid perhaps?], I think the most cost-efficient method will be to run some Porsche-specific diagnostics, which will be available at a Porsche dealer or reputable Porsche Independent, to see if there are any error codes thrown-up. That way you won’t be getting into any unnecessary [and expensive!] component swapping.
