997 4S wanted

Hi,

I'm thinking of selling my 996 Turbo and buying a 997 4S Gen II. Ideally a 2009, black on black, coupe, manual or PDK, £50k-ish budget.

Are there any particular things I need to look out for?
Any known issues? (No IMS issues thank God). But what about cylinder scoring - has that been rectified in Gen II?
Anyone engine problems?
Do you know of a good car that is for sale?

Thanks

Andrew

Andrew, Gen2 is a different engine to the one that may have cylinder scoring (usually 2004-2005 cars)
Only issues raised are the possibility of engine coking in the future.. and a pump issues that was a recall anyhow.
The engineers seemed to of fixed the issues

I cant comment on cylinder scoring but I have had a 2010 997 C2S for one year now and it is fantastic.
It is my first Porsche so I am not able to compare to previous models but I would ask why buy a C4, I thought a C2 would be a purer drive and I certainly have not been disapointed. I would certainly reccomend PDK and Sports Chrono, the difference it makes to performance is stupendous and the gear change is as good to listen to when doing full bore acceleration as it is to feel.

Thanks for the replies.

I like the wide body of the 4S and the fact that I can drive such a powerful car in the snow has always pushed me towards 4 wheel drives.

But people do say that the 2S is better to drive.

I personally, wouldn't be buying a C4S for its snow-traversing capabilities. [&:]

I'd be tempted to find a few more kahunas and look out for a nice GTS - that's a fine piece of kit. [:)]

Regards,

Clive.

as clive says......if you want to have fun in the snow much better to have a good C2S with snow tyres
