997 and 981 back to back

I note that 997.2's are about the same price in the used market as a 981s, so I took the opportunity to try a 997.2 Carerra 911 and made a video documenting my thoughts!

Loved the car, the presence, engine and steering in particular but it felt more grown up than I expected, was this down to spec, no PSE or is that just how they are? I recalled the 997.1s I drove to be a little louder and maybe slightly less refined.

Great to hear from some of you.

"Double white lines where the line nearest you is solid. This means you MUST NOT cross or straddle it unless it is safe and you need to enter adjoining premises or a side road. You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.
Laws RTA 1988 sect 36 & TSRGD regs 10 & 26"

No Police in Scotland then. :) I would go for the 911, where I live the other 2 are girls cars.

Having owned a 997.1 C4s & a 997.2 C4s, I would say your assessment is spot on. Huge difference between the 2 cars. 997.2 is more the finished article, far better finishes internally and a lot more refined all round, non of this diminishing from the performance. However sometimes I missed and enjoyed the rawness of the 997.1. My only complaint of the 997.2 was the exhaust note was far to quiet, easily fixed with a straight through cross pipe.

Good to know, I did wonder if I was looking back with rose tinted glasses. Does it have an extra silencer or something, and would the PSE make a notable difference?

Very good, not looking to start an argument or a debate as I respect your opinion. I wonder if that would apply when avoiding poor surface conditions and the likes, but anyway... tell me, where do you live, 1965? ;)

I'll leave you to it but the irony is that I think you would find your own 911 a little bit on the soft side compared to some of the older 911s! All the best.
