As my GT2 has now been retired from track day duties, and will be used more on longer trips and holidays, I've recently had the audio system upgraded and thought I'd share my experiences for those that might be considering something similar. My car had the Sound Package Plus, but other Porsche systems can also be upgraded.
I used a company called Audiofile-Incar based in Bishop Stortford - I'd previously used them for an audio upgrade in my X5 and was extremely happy with both the quality of their work and also the results of the upgrade.
There's lots of details on their website but in simple terms they replace the tweeters and 4" speakers with Focal components, add a proper crossover to separate those speakers from the larger woofers, and then drive the whole lot with a powerful amplifier which neatly replaces the Porsche one under the driver's seat.
As you can see in the photo, they also add loads of soundproofing to the doors etc to improve the speaker response:
This shows the Focal tweeter in position, the factory trim then goes back on top:
Once the car was finished it's almost impossible to tell visually that the system has been changed, apart from a small bass-level control in the ashtray - everything looks completely stock.
So what's it like to listen to? Well the extra sound-proofing is noticeable - the GT2 suffers from tyre noise on the motorway and that's reduced along with other road noise. Strangely enough another positive benefit is that I can hear the engine noise more clearly!
The sound quality is excellent - I can't compare it with the current generation Bose, for example, but it's far, far better than the Bose I had in My Gen 1 and Gen 2 Carreras.
