hi all my beloved 997 c2s 2007/08 has died took it out yesterday lovely sunshine got about 2 miles from home pulled up to lights car died?? restarted no problem but cut out angina at next junction?? think it could be the MAF?? car runs ok but cutting out when idling??? I would really be grateful for any help or advice

thanks guys

Sorry to hear about your problem Jason.

I'd have thought that you'd just get a missfire if one of the coils is faulty. The problem could be related to the idle control circuit but I think that it's best to get the car on some diagnostics ASAP to track the fault.

Sounds like a trip to your PC or Indy is required, unless you can find someone in the Club local to you with the appropriate Durametric software to read any fault codes.

Hi jeff
thanks for getting intouch im sure its a MAF fault so have ordered another as when I disconnected it it didn't cut out but over 4000rpm ran ruff ish so from what goggle search brought up sound like the MAF fingers crossed I will post findings so if anyone else with a 2007/08 has same fault it will save them a load of time and money!!!

thanks jason

Hi Jason,

From what you describe it sounds suspiciously like it could be the MAF sensor and if your car's done about 50k miles (?), it's probably best to replace it rather than mess around trying to clean it.

Hope that sorts your problem and, yes, please keep us posted on progress.

Jeff

Hi Jason,

Why not post up in the 997 forum and see if any of the enthusiasts in there can help you. My only advice would be to get the codes checked before you do swaptronics.

Steve
