Hi guys, so I’m after some much needed help, bare with me and feel free to call me an idiot after… so a few weeks ago, on a glorious summers day I put my car battery on charge before leaving for work… half way through the day a mental downpour that was on par with a monsoon in Thailand turned up from nowhere… obviously I completely forgot that my bonnet lid was open on the driveway at home ??????? when I got back I had a bonnet full of water… I bailed it out, probably about a bucket full… since then my electrics now have a mind of there own, spoiler is stuck half way, back lights are on constant, boot lid won’t open and I’m getting error messages on the dash, was praying that it would dry out and be ok but 3 weeks later it’s still the same… I’ve checked the fuses and they are all ok, any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks ????

I am certainly no electrical expert but when you say you have dried it out, did you just keep it out of the wet and let it dry by itself? Have you taken a hair dryer to the various areas that were affected by the water? It could be just residual moisture lying in between electrical connections somewhere. Warm flowing air may dry it up.

That‘s very bad luck! A bucket of water is a heck of a lot though… if I were you I’d be stripping out all of the plastics, the carpet in the frunk etc down to the shell as there is a lot of empty space water could be sitting still. Various electronic modules and potentially a Bose amp if you have that system that all sit under the plastic.

it’s also possible water made its way through the bulkhead and into the cabin, where there are electronics modules under the seats, so I’d definitely double-check those areas too. Damp and mould builds up quickly beneath the thick foam insulation If left damp.

Good luck!
