well it came back from it's 2nd year service and is nearly 2 years old so the warrenty is almost up. the car is still unlocking its self and opening the bonnet. also on start up from cold or nearly cold ie left for 2 hours the exhaust makes what seems like heat shield or baffles loose. this was said to be fixed . im being told that they all do it because its a flat six dry sump.if this is the case all 911's do this . my last 996 didn't . after about 30 seconds it stops. im not saying its bad but my mother who has no idea about cars said today when i started it OH MY IS THAT OK IT SOUNDS TERMINAL.

is this normal whats my next move. im happy to leave it if they all do it but im sure not going to let it lie if they dont.

anyone having the same

thanks for any advice. nick

IMHO you should take the car back to the servicing OPC, show them the problems and tell them to sort them out under the warranty. You paid for the warranty, you are entitled to have your car work correctly!!

If the OPC refuses to take things seriously, contact Porsche GB and/or a motoring magazine. Or get a full report from the AA or RAC and then show it to the OPC and demand that they put things right at their expense including the cost of the experts' report.

don't take no for an answer mate , sounds like baffles have gone in silencer, had it a few times on 997 and replaced silencer unit never rattled after that...

regards remote ask them to change the length of time the button needs to be pressed through there piwis tester as they should already be aware of this problem with 997 fobs.

Mine made that clattering noise from the exhaust when starting from cold since it was new. The noise disappears after a few minutes when warmed up a little. Another 997 I know does exactely the same. OPC response; "they all do that Sir, its a characteristic"
Anyway a nice Milltek system makes all the right noises.

When I had my 997.1 C2S sports exhaust retrofitted there was a rattle. It was the valves which needing adjusting. My OPC took care of it pretty quick.

Your not wrong there - an expensive alternative but if you get fed up of the rattle and want a deeper more growly sound[:D]
