997 C4S Sports Suspension

I have just purchased my first Porsche, a 2007 C4S.

It has a sports suspension kit which was not listed on the spec by the seller.

I am finding the ride very firm and with a lot of road noise.

Can anyone advise how this suspension compares to the ride on a standard set up with PASM on and off.
Is it firmer than the sport setting and does it increase road noise.

Any comments on fitting standard springs and shockers.
Are there any good independant mechanics in the North East.

Thank you.

The sports suspension is much firmer (damper settings) and stiffer (thicker anti-roll bars) than PASM version in normal but softer and more compliant than the rock hard sports mode. The ride height is also dropped -20mm, which is 10mm lower than the PASM.
The sports suspension also came with a LSD as standard.
The noise level is more a factor of the tyre type rather than the suspension.
Personally I prefer the sports suspension and so did a Porsche experience/race driver I know. For everyday use some may find the ride a little harsh. ENJOY!

I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment there, RWS. Factory sports suspension is a rare option, and a bit marmite really. If it really isn't your cup of tea there may be options with Bilstein or KW for different springs and dampers, but that will be 2k upwards I would have thought.

I'm not entirely convinced you could retro-fit PASM either. I think the parts would be available no problem, but your wiring loom won't have the right connections - this is a common problem retro-fitting anything - and as well as springs/dampers you'll need some electronic control unit and assorted other reprogramming. Sounds a lot of money, may be better to cut your losses and move it on if possible.

Loud tyre noise/roar/drone is a problem with all of them, at least on 19" wheels. They're unbelievably noisey, that's a standard feature.

Thanks for the help.

I am more than delighted with the car and will get used to the suspension/road noise issue. It's good to know this is normal.

Thanks again
