997 Cabriolet Key: Roof up issues

Hi guys just wanted to check my sanity on something"¦

When using my key to close the roof on my 997 Cab it doesn't raise the windows afterwards (unlike the button within the cabin).

Is this as it should be?

Thanks!

Its like that on the 996, a health and safety issue... can't see it changing (as in less H&S) for the 997 .

Fitting the smartop device soon cures that though...[;)]

Not an issue I have with my 997 Cab. There is a slight time lag between the roof locking shut and the windows coming up, but keep the button pressed down on the key fob and windows should rise. Hope this helps.

It does help thanks Bob. That means there is something wrong with my key fob as I already tried holding it down for almost an extra minute after the roof closed.

Back to the local OPC [:(]

All four of my side windows refuse to go up using the key fob. I've always assumed it was some peculiarity withthe way the system was set-up. Please let us know how you get on with the OPC.

Given that both of you seem to have a different setting to me, I double checked the manual. This also suggests the windows should close from the fob (page 154). Just a thought, but do you both have the individual key memory option in your PCM. If so, is this/can this be set to influence closing of the windows? Failing this a trip to the OPC looks to be the only option..sorry.

I've only opened mine remotely, will check closing when i get home. But i rarely operate the roof that way, because apparently it drains the battery big time, and was advised to have the engine running when operating the roof. Having said that, opening the roof from the other end of the car park is pretty cool [;)]

From my OPC:

This is the correct UK setting. They do not come through with this feature setup as there were cases where people sat on their keys and were bringing the windows down by accident. I think that there were enough complaints through to Porsche for them to remove it from the orinal UK spec and the decision was made at the factory to remove this feature from the key.

I didn't think that made any sense so I replied and subsequently the OPC suggested I talk to Porsche Technical in the Head Office. So that's my next port of call...

Unless the opc can re-enable this function your going to have to go for a smarttop.

I have one on my 996 cabrio and its great, close the hood on the remote and the windows close as well, one touch raising and lowering of the roof, rear windows can be raised when hood is down. So easy to fit even for a crap mechanic like me.
