We also talked about Speed Yellow. His view was that looks great - but not good for resale. I wonder how adverse an imapct it would make. Any thoughts?

I looked for ages for a white 996, settled for a guards red one in the end, interestingly white was / is about 5k less than other colours, and guards was not to popular either so the dealers will tell you, till you come to buy one then there very sought after sir !!!

I have used the car and so did the previous owner hence high mileage, I have done 10K this year and but have lost quite a lot of value mainly due to colour!! and as was pointed out earlier, when I purchased the car it was on the forecourt for the same price as others because of the limited colour!! Just business is the final answer.[]
Silvers and greys have always been a popular and attractive finish on Porsches - from the early 1950s 356s through to the present day. For many of the classic models, it is the most desirable finish, and it is Germany's traditional racing 'colour'.
Granted, it has been rather overdone in recent years, but it is attractive and easy to keep looking clean.
Another factor that influences colour choices is the 'launch' colours used by the manufacturer. Guards Red seems to have been chosen for the 997, mainly because it is photogenic and differentiates from the 996, of which very few are seen in red.
Time will tell if fashions change.
