Had a long chat with old friend Bernard Aubry recently. Some of you may recognize the name as Bernard was for a long time a Porsche Driving Instructor, one of those guys with one of the best jobs in the World, driving Porsche's all day long on road and track teaching new owners like myself how to actually drive[/i] a Porsche. Bernard retired from the Porsche team a few years ago, and now is training owners on a one-to-one basis, I've been out with him myself many times and he's without doubt one of the best, who - unlike many "˜names' who advertise such training - is not in the least bit smug or arrogant. Indeed Bernard is a true gentleman whilst being incredibly skilled both in roadcraft and car-control, and in teaching useful skills in a patient and expert way.

Bernard has an extensive knowledge of the best roads in the South, as well as the contacts to arrange track-hire of the exclusive Chobham test track, and a normal days tuition might include 1-2 hours at the circuit followed by a day touring on the roads learning advanced driving skills. It's predominantly a road-based tuition, Bernard is more focused on road-skills than track-attack or on the limit handling.

He's based near Guildford, and, when not training Mercedes AMG owners at nearby Brooklands, or Lamborghini demonstration dirvers, makes himself available for club-members. He's running an offer for the club, with £45 off his normal fee for PCGB members bringing the price down to around £450 per day. Furthermore, another £25 for all bookings in July and August.

I'm a huge fan of training myself, normally taking at least one course of refresher training every year, so if you're within striking distance of Guildford I'd urge you to check-out Bernard's website and perhaps indulge yourself for a day learning some skills for life. I guarantee you'll enjoy yourself !

Quote the 997 regsiter for our offer price. This is for 997 owners, but I'm sure Bernard would offer the same price for all Porsche club members.
