997 drivers door electric intermittent help

Hi I've just joined pcgb and was hoping for some advice. I've just purchased a late 2004 gen 1 997 2S and have a couple of issues.... firstly the drivers side electrics are intermittent. Window switches / electric mirror adjust / lights on warning signal not engaging when door open. Took it to Twg in Peterborough who told me it needed a new control module for the door electrics. They replaced this at great cost and I have the same issue. firstly I'm hoping that they will refund me the cost of this work.. but does anyone have any ideas What this might be as it's clearly not the £300 bit of kit they installed!!!
next - the heated and dimming drivers side mirror glass is no longer working. Does anyone know the best way to get this part? Is it able tonne self fitted? Thanks - nick

Did you buy from a dealer? If yes, they have a duty to fix the car If you bought within the last 6 months.

I have not not once heard anything good about twg in Peterborough. Dove house in Rushden is awesome though. Try them in future.

Good luck. Oh and welcome! lovely car!!

Possibly a broken cable core or damaged/loose connector. If you're contemplating DIY, search the Forum's technical section for details of removal of the door card.
Regards,

Clive.

If you don't fancy the DIY option I would give it back to Twg and ask them to diagnose it properly and then discuss repair costs factoring in the cost of the pointless replacement that will test their customer service proposition . Being near Peterborough myself I was tempted to pop into Twg but I have yet to hear good things so would be interested to hear how you get on. Failing that try as Lancerlot has mentioned a bit of fiddling, cleaning and checking might be all that is needed and check for mice droppings.
If all else fails I would pop down to Dovehouse, a bit of a trek down the A605 perhaps but I hear nothing but good reports about them.

Thanks For the kind replies. dont know where I stand with twg really. When I called they said that it's the same diagnostics a Porsche garage would have done. the thing that concerns me is that he said he might not be able to return the part Which I don't feel I should pay for. Anyway back on 3rd so will update. How about the mirror glass. Whats the best source of parts

I would not consider parts at this stage. Everything seems to be driver side related and could be as simple as a loose earth connector. I am not an electrics expert but I wouldn't be looking to replace the mirror until the other issues are sorted as it just seems to be more than coincidence that it all seems to be going wrong on the one side. Taking off the door card and having a look wont cost you anything other than time, guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw6WJ5aEu-4

Thanks guys. v helpful. Im hoping that they have sorted now. They did say loose earth they checked I suspect it's that but they saif they couldn't return the part. Expensive fix if it was that.
