997 engine number

Welcome to the forum. Looking from the nearside side of the car you should be able to kneel down and see it stamped on the flat surface plate of the engine casing. Probably need a torch. garyw
 
It's on the underside of the crankcase - left as viewed from behind

Hi all,
I am new to the forum and looking for some advice. I am looking at buying a 997 and would like to know how and where I can find the engine number to check it matches the one on the V5. Thanks
