I always thought that some condensation was normal for a frameless door construction, but I was surprised to find the bottom of the door carpet on both sides soaking wet the other day. Not just moist but wet. So, off to Porsche West London and they immediately knew the cause of the problem: Broken membrane which according to them, was covered under warranty the first 2 years and then under goodwill for another 3 years. I have owned the car for 4 years and never received any info on this from Porsche or the dealer servicing the car in the meantime.
I was dumbfounded to say the least. How can you get a broken membrane in the first place unless you damage the membrane when taking the doors apart.
Porsche now confirmed that not only the membrane needs replacement, but also the window seals on both sides for a cool GBP 980 incl. VAT. I think the membrane is an excuse for the real culprit the seals.
This is the first car in my portfolio of driving cars for 30 years where this item has to be replaced. And that after the car is only 6 years old. Any similar experiences?
Regards,
Max
