997 Gen 2 Price List Wanted

Hi all,

As I begin the final countdown in the long process of buying my first 911, in May, I would really appreciate being able to get my hands on the UK price lists for a 997 Gen 2 Carrera and Turbo.

Does anyone have either of these item they no longer need, or even to allow me to borrow them until my decision is made, please.

Many thanks, please don't all reply at once.....

Welcome Horace. When you say price list do you mean basic plus all the option prices? Which year? I'm not sure anything like that was produced in print as it is all normally done through the Porsche configurator these days. All I can tell you is that in March 2010 the turbo was around £105k basic. In 2008 I bought a Gen 2 997S which was £75 including options. Out of curiosity, why will having the price lists help you in your quest?

Not sure if this helps or not. There are some of the more common options listed. Note that prices are excluding VAT which in 2010 was 15%

Yes, I seem to remember it went back up on Jan 1st and a number of us tried to pay for our cars (which were being collected on 1st March 2010) before that date so we could save 2.5% (which is not inconsiderable on £87k!). Sadly, it wasn't possible so we were stung for the full 17.5%. Made the base price of the turbo just under £102k (including VAT)

Saved around 4½ grand on the purchase of my Scuderia - just enough to pay for the stripes! [:(]

Regards,

Clive.

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies so far.
I wanted the 997 Gen 2 price lists to get confirmation in my mind of which "extras" are really extras and which might have been on as standard. It seems that virtually everything is available as an extra - at least on the non-turbo models.
I did a 'phone around of numerous dealers, with a conspicuos lack of success. However, one who did say they had one sent me the current book, marked "The New 911. Price List"
This lists 8 cars:
1 x Carrera - 1 x Carrera S - 1 x Carrera 4 and 1 x Carrera 4S
Then the same again for the Cabs. This only takes a single page.

It then gives the spec - another 8 pages - THEN ANOTHER 55 PAGES for the options list.......

It seems these are usually thrown away, but I'll keep on looking.
I'm at Silverstone this afternoon for my local meet and I'll ptu the word around there.

I'd recommend the high quality brochure if you want to get your head around the models and differences. It's a hard backed affair and you can pick those up from eBay.

There's not a lot that's a standard 'extra' on the car that springs to mind. PASM is on the S models though, for example. Maybe you should post up some examples?

For mine I wanted -

PDLS
Cruise
Heated seats
Sports exhaust
Nav
Sport Chrono
Universal Audio Interface
Multifunction steering wheel
PDK
Park assist
Sports seats (there are a variety of seat options)
Rear Wiper

Horace,

Can't help with price lists, etc, but if you have a look at the Configurator on the Porsche site it'll give you an idea what is inclded as standard and what's available on the options list. I doubt that it's changed significantly from the 997 to 981.

Just a suggestion.

Good luck with your search.

Jeff

Edit: This link is for a 2008 Gen1 Cayman but it'll give you an idea of some of the option prices:

If you google 997 price list you can find this

http://ebookbrowse.com/catalogue-911-997-my10-en-pdf-d100039316

Which tells what is standard and what are options..

I must say a big "Thank You" to Mike Allen of R10. He has allowed me to borrow his collection of books which although not exactly what I wanted - it's 997 Gen 1 stuff, I want Gen 2 - it does give me a lot more info which should help, and it's also a great read.

Meanwhile, I'll keep on looking and asking around.
