Thank you for the update Martin As I'm sure you've seen there are quite a few members clambering to get them fitted.[8D] garyw

No probs Gary. Please also don't forget, I'm also here to help and support with advice or information you may need. Martin

Funny thing, I had a call from Cardiff the other day but I had already booked in with Exeter a few days previously. (Also a lot closer to me!) Nice to see they are finally coming through the system and arriving at the OPC's. Now then, about those paddle shift steering wheels that will be available on the Turbo......................[;)][8D] Retrofit on the PDK cars by next...........June?[:(]

We had a 3 delivered for stock last week and have 1 remaining at present. (To order should only take 3 days). Fitting can be done in a day, so drop off in the morning and collect in afternoon. Regarding cost: £1950.00 all inclusive. Martin

Martin I have sent you an email, please do let me know if you haven't received it. garyw

I have now driven 400 miles with the Gen 2 PSE. Thought to be fair I have not yet used high rpm, but I am initially disappointed. There does not seem to be much difference between PSE on or off. On start up it sounds quite good, but within a second or 2 it mutes. At about 50 - 60 mph, and at moderate revs, the tyre noise is louder than the exhaust. Maybe I have a fault? What are other members impressions? At what speed and rpm does it sound good and worth the £1.5K - £2k cost?

Derek I am not surprised. I took my local OPC demonstrator with PSE out for a spin recently. Was underwhelmed at the PSE. I thought the standard exhaust not pretty good especially in a cab. Both the dealer principle and my salesman agreed that the PSE was not worth the 2K. I am more than happy keeping my cash. Anyway how are you enjoying your new motor. I guess even without squeeking brakes you notice the difference from the standard non S.

Well, having only covered about 400 miles, I cannot really comment. My C2 PDK was brilliant as the acceleration between 50 & 70 was far better than my 360. I am expecting better from the C2S, but I have to say the C2 was more than adequate. As stated, I am rather disappointed so far with the PSE and have yet to be convinced that the heated steering wheel is worth having. Though I am keeping the revs down, thus have not really explored Sport +, I did have a little dabble and it blew my head off [:D]. Still wish the stopwatch was a clock. I like the extra yellow stitching and the Carrera S strip looks better than the plain Carrera. The GT silver 19" Carrera Sport wheels look fabulous against the blue body. Despite it being a rip off, I'm glad I shelled out £74 for a 911 badge on the back instead of Carrara S. Makes it look a bit special. I still think that on the Cab there is little difference between normal PASM and Sport. Sports seats are a slight improvement. Probably worth the £299, especially if one is going to do the occasional track day. In all, it is a better car, especially as the brakes behave. But £8.5K more?????

Just on the 911 badge subject, has anybody had their Carrera/S badge replaced with the 911 version. I'm concerned about the old one leaving marks if I replace it? Does the OPC do this job? Cheers

I would really expect that gen2 PSE only really sounds like it should if it is unplugged - pretty much as gen1 PSE. Perhaps gen2 PSE needs it even more as the non-PSE sound of gen2 isnt as good anyway as we know. Pull that plug Derek!

On the PSE, I'm pleased with the sound of mine (997.2 C4S cab), its a lot louder and a real racecar sound (IMHO), although I've changed from a C63 AMG so I rev the Porsche a lot to find the torque and hence hear the noise a lot! My problem is that with the sports exhaust button pressed (i.e. loud mode) the pick up is worse at low revs and a flatspot between 2k and 3k. Has anyone else experienced that? Also, in reply to Clewsey, the 'Carrera' badge comes up very simply with a hairdryer to warm the letters and then some dental floss. Takes 2 mins and then another 2 mins with some bug & tar remover or similar for the glue residue. There is no outline or mark left at all. Then a '911' badge is about 13 pounds and goes on very easily. I did this on mine and now have a basalt black car with a matt black '911' badge. Looks pretty cool, IMHO. Although, when the Panamera is launched I think I'm going to replace it with the 'P O R S C H E' emblem from that...

All the cars I've heard fitted with PSE sounded great. Makes me feel even worse in my washy sounding Turbo [&:] [;)] I'd read the 911uk thread and many more of excited owners... However I do chuckle when I consider we'll pay £2k for an exhaust system and yet I'm not sure what we'd say if a young driver did the same to his corsa/nova [;)] garyw

ORIGINAL: MartinW Good Afternoon all, For those of you who are driving 997 Gen 2 and have been waiting for Sports Exhaust, these are now available to be retrofitted. If you would like any further info, please email me on martin.wright@porschecardiff.co.uk. Regards Martin
If Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborgini see fit to supply a "sports exhaust" on there sports cars as standard kit why on earth are Porsche still keeping there system on the options list! Just makes no sense to me what so ever []

Some find part of the appeal of the Porsche brand being the fact it can be used everyday and not so 'in your face' as other brands. I think its called choice.... but I'm sure the Government will make that illegal eventually [;)] garyw
