Hi, I'm a newbie so forgive me if I'm asking the obvious, can I upgrade my satnav, gen I 2008 car, to take full seven digit post codes, if so how do I go about it, thanks.

Press the "Source" and "Info" buttons simultaneously with ignition on the see what version PCM you have. You need PCM 3 and System version V2.23 or above to take full advantage of an upgrade. You then order the Licence Key from your PC and once it arrives, they will use it to upgrade the system.

If you're a Club member, you can access full details in the Members Only technical section.

Regards,

Clive.

Hi Tony and welcome,

I have changed your "status" to PCGB member so you can access said Members only technical section! That said I don't think a Gen 1 car (PCM 2.1) will be upgradable. Only the late Gen 1 turbos had PCM 3 which may be upgradable. But, as Clive said, have a look at what is in your car.

Tony, it may be the early version - CD player slot at the top of the PCM- in which case it could be a DVD disc for the info
I'm not aware they have ever done the 7 digits for that version.
I never had a problem as I worked around usually by finding a venue rather than via a postcode.

is the PCM black or grey?

The former would indicate its a PCM 3 and can support it

the latter its a PCM 2.1 and can't
