997 Gen2 Tyres

I'm currently upgrading my 2005 997 to a 2010 PDK Gen2 car. My current car has Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres, which suit it, and the new car is currently fitted with Bridgestones.

The dealer has offered to fit part worn Michelins on to the car if I prefer them. Should I change over?

I think previous threads have covered similar topics, but the specific advice wwould be helpful
 
I would take the set with the least amount of wear, personally.
Many of us use Bridgestones as a matter of choice and find they suit our cars very well.
Others will swear Mich's are unrivalled. [:(]

I have Bridgestone Potenza's on my 997.2 C4s and can't fault them. I havent run anything else and can't yet comment on wear but I cant fault dry or wet grip, feel, noise and ride quality.
 
Have you considered seeing if he will leave the Bridgestones on and do you a good deal on the Michelin part worn for when the Bridgestones wear out?
 
I had Pirelli on my 997 and was unhappy with them as they were noisy. The dealer offered me a set of part worn Bridgestone's although a much cheaper tyre I can't fault them-take his offer.

Thanks for the advice folks. I can't buy the 2nd set of tyres as I believe the dealer is swapping the tyres with another car.

I've decided I will get the dealer to put on the Michelins, as this is what I am used to using

Realise that I've come late to this discussion.

My 997.2 turbo had Bridgestones originally from the factory. (I use Sottozeros in winter).

Without question they were really good when hot and sticky - and a day at Silverstone in the warm proved this. Also they wore very well (i.e. not much at all for 15 laps of the GP circuit and half a day skating about Porsche's facility).

However, and it was a big but for me, I found them really underwhelming in any sort of damp conditions. Most un-confidence inspiring, doubly if cool and damp. And this was from full tread (8mm +) down to when I changed them (ca. 4mm rears, but inside edges gone).

Consensus really is against PZeros. (Aside Corsa System 2, which I seriously considered, but concerned about very wet performance - mixed views).

I have therefore changed to PS2s. We've had a few hot days this year already and they are proving excellent, but clearly I can't attest to them on the track yet - although for me that is a <1% requirement. In the damp though they are a material improvement on the RE050, and damp (again, for me) is 50x more important that the once every 2 years on a 32 degC track.
 
Many thanks for the information. I now have the car, fitted with the part worn PS2s as requested.
I am very happy with the handling, so far in the dry, as we haven't had any rain in our area
