Does anyone think RED in coming back in vogue for 997's, im looking at one, but just decide if i like looking at it in the picture, or could i love it if it was in my garage...was also a Basalt Black fan myself, but Red is growing on me.

What do you reckon?

Go for red. Black is a pain to keep clean. I know. My Cayman looks great but shows every bit of dirt and dust.

I am sure the red hand gang will be along shortly[:D]
Don't know what you mean?[:D] I think red might have been last year's colour with white making a come back too. For me there's only one colour of choice though........[;)]

Awesome picture, and great colour too.

I know i shouldn't be too bothered about this, but it is human nature to think about re sale in this colour, what do you think?

Guards Red has never been out of fashion in my book! Had four Guards Red Porkers over the years including two 997s and they always look the business. As they're not that common (except on 997 Register events) they'll always be in demand. My last one barely touched the OPC forecourt before selling. And Basalt is a pain to keep clean.

Just to show how good it looks in the garage (both gone, sadly)

I noticed two register members cars shown this month in PP- both Red.... and I think a white one [:)]

I don't understand why there aren't more RUBY red 997s. If I were to spec from new again that would be top of my list!

The reason there are not more rubystone reds is that it would cost £5000 plus as Paint To Sample.
Standard colour on gen 2 997 and I think on 991 no?

GT3 press cars were red and looked the business. There were very few 993's & 996 in red - probably as a yuppie backlash to 964 and earlier but they are now popular again and a damn site easier to keep clean than white & black!

Personally I think black is the new red...

Won't stay that clean for long [:D]
Congratulations and look forward to seeing it at the weekend.

i've already cleaned it once. was pouring with rain when i picked it up. Spent an hour in the rain and dark washing it on the driveway... missus was shaking her head at me when i got in, looking like i'd been dragged through a hedge backwards. It looked the bollocks though [;)]

Anyway, sorry for derailing your thread...

Here's a reminder of what Basalt Black looks like after a short journey...

I know how Gary likes a dirty motor

Red can be subjective depending on the model.
The 993 looked great in red, particularly as a Turbo - the curves of the model even as a standard Carrera helped here I think.
IMO 996s never really suited red and as a result you didn't see many.
997s looked great from the off and a number of press cars were supplied in this colour helping the 'Red' cause. Red was actually my first choice when hunting for a 997 earlier this year, and to answer your question on resale I'll quote from the Peter Morgan buying guide I purchased at the time - Beware of colours like Red or Yellow as these can be very hard to shift come resale time.
Rubbish - never mind difficult to sell, you can never find any! I searched for ages (within my price range) and when a Guards Red car did come up at my target year, it was often priced higher than a similar Silver or Black car and more often than not, didn't have as good a spec to match!
Go Red - you know you want to...
