997 Key Question

Does anyone know (Richard!!!) if the three button 997 key, part number [FONT=arial black"]997 637 244 36[FONT=verdana,geneva"] can be used for my Cabriolet three button key for my 996. The key is looking pretty tired and one of the buttons has split.

I was hoping to be able to transfer the key blade, guts and transponder into the new key.

Has anyone done this?

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for your advice.

You can buy the part of the 9x6 key which has the buttons separately. About £18.

I think I might be able to get hold of a second-hand 9x7 Gen 1 key head, so I'll check it out if I can.

I can't see how a 9x7 Gen 1 key case would work. Here is a photo, and you can see that the battery is in one side of the case, and the circuit board in the other. Underneath is a 9x6 circuit board.

Thanks for that Richard.

After I read your post about changing your key over to a 911 Design keyhead, I wanted to see if I could do it for a three button version as I use the third button for the roof.

Never mind.

Can you tell me where I can get a replacement cover for my exisitng key [:(].

Thanks for your help

Any OPC. Part number 996.637.355.00 (for the Cabrio) @ £18.06+VAT before PCGB discount. The description of the item is "Handheld Transmitter Upper Part".
