997 New Engine

Hi
Im looking at an 05 997 C2S that has had a replacement engine under warranty in 2008. The engine is obviously now out of warranty, but im interested to know if the NEW engine Porsche replaced it with would potentially have the same cylinder issues the original one had, or do you think they would of replaced it with a ' new version' of the engine, with previous known faults addressed?

Does anyone have info on this?

i think you just need to find the right car; you are blowing the whole engine (forgive the pun) thing out of proportion. Find a car that's the right spec and right price, do the usual checks, and buy it. There's no guarantees a new engine will be any more reliable than an old one.

Buy from a Porsche Centre and it will come with a new two year warranty. Buy privately and it will not. Ya pays ya money and ...........etc etc. You talk about the "previous known faults" as if it afflicted every engine which is clearly not the case. As Matt says above don't get the issue out of proportion [;)]

im aware it is just a small number of engines this effects and represents an extremely small percentage...just trying to play it as safe as i can without over paying in the process.

Been burnt before with a £13k bill from BMW for a new engine that they wouldn't admit was an issue at all!

Thanks for the info anyway
